My azawakhs

Today I want to tell about my azawakhs, I love this breed, it is special for me.

In 1995 I take my first dog, Duma, I wanted a dog from a lot of years, but my parents not... They wanted an "highest" age for me, so when I was 15 years old, I buight my first dog and first azawakh. Duma was special, she was a pure jugoslavian line, today this bloodline is vanished, you can find only some descendants. She was "terrible", a incredible wits and a strong temperament. I loved her... She has teached me a lot of things, now I know what I want to an azawakh. For me it is very important to preserve jugoslavian type because today in rings you see only ipertypical dogs and not very "african".


In 1999 my friend Alberto Rossi, Tigidit kennel, take a puppy female: Kabara dell'Attimo Fuggente, she was same her grandmother El Hammada Elbeida, an jugoslavian type, I wanted an her daughter! With Alberto look for a right male and in 2001 Tigidit litter C borned! And I had my Cathib!!!! She is my queen! She and I are in a perfect tune! Together we have done our first big successes: world title... european... bis specialty... a lot of title and other... But a patent like "good dog citizen" too!
Now she is 9 years old, she in perfect health, she don't look her age and I'd like to have a female like her, so this winter I try her last litter, in her first litter there were only two male... Cathib has a perfect head and neck for me, I don't see these type in nobody.



In 2006 Alberto did a litter from Calamide (Cathib's brother) and Tigidit Elica, wonderful female. I want one! A male, french type, I want to try the "difference". Azawakh male are sweet and very tender, but they are not so "womanizer" like galgo male.
So Tigidit Ikraam arrived in my home. He is very nice and "baby", he is Cathib's "knight errant".

it's un unusual choice, at 15, buying an azawakh, how do you discover this breed?

I find galgo male very "fix" with female, azawakh is not so.

When I was a child, I wanted a dog. Immediately I wanted a sighthound. I loved: sloughi, galgo and saluki. In 1995 I have not internet and I didn't know azawakh, but in a magazine I found a annucement about an azawakh litter, so I search this breed in various encyclopedias and I have found it very charming.

My parents loved Duma!!! She was fantastic! A true azawakh!
They wanted that I was not a child and more "responsible" for a dog, they had bought me a lot of books about dogs and I have payed the dog

Azawakh has a wonderful temperament! I love it and I hate when people say bad things about this incredible breed. For me it is not for everybody...

whippets are sighthounds with advantages and inconveniences of terriers! they're great in obedience but they are so noisy and full of energy!
